Check out this preview of two BKF fellows, Cheri-Leigh Erasmus and Heera Sharma, whose organizations quickly organized campaigns internationally to promote accurate and useful information about COVID-19, combating myths and misinformation. Did you hear that wearing rubber gloves while out in public is effective in preventing the new coronavirus? Also, 5G Mobile networks spread COVID-19. Did you think those were facts? These are a few examples of the myths that the Go Laadli Corona Warrior! campaign sought to bust. Click the picture below to see these and other fun video examples from the Go Laadli Corona Warrior! campaign (make sure to scroll down on Go Laadli's webpage to access the videos). Go Laadli's Campaign was a huge success, both in numbers - 84 participants across India from 35 schools in 16 cities - and also in the quality of submissions received. Young women across India played COVID-19 myth buster games and created highly resonant hygiene videos that were watched by thousands on social media. CORONAVIRUS CIVACTS CAMPAIGNAs the COVID-19 pandemic continues to unfold, we also find ourselves in the midst of what has been called an infodemic. Rising unemployment due to lockdowns, and litigations on informal labour and vendors, is likely to deepen the existing divide. So the world faces a combination of many not being connected enough to access the right information; and others who are connected being bombarded with the wrong information. Accountability Lab created more than 130 unique bulletins in 11 languages in Nepal, Pakistan, Liberia, Nigeria, Mali, Niger and South Africa, disseminated through the Lab’s existing grassroots networks via WhatsApp, email and social media, and sent to community radio stations to communities with less connectivity and/or low literacy rates. After participating in BKF's 2018-2019 Action Learning Fellowship cohort, Cheri returned in 2019-2020 as a "facilitant" (facilitator/participant). We are now thrilled to announce that Cheri is joining the Berrett-Koehler Foundation board this month! STAY TUNED!As eight full-of-surprises months come to a close, we are excited to share with you the amazing work of the 3rd BKF Action Learning Fellowship cohort.
