Catalyzing the Second Generation of Action-Learning Fellows
Action-Learning Fellow Share-out
On February 23rd, the Berrett-Koehler Foundation welcomed the BK community to hear from six community change-makers working on a wide range of social change projects with the overarching aim of sharing practices to foster resilient leaders.
The six action-learning fellows from the Bay Area and across the U.S. shared their lessons and insights of community building, social entrepreneurship, and lean impact. The BK community then gave feedback and input on next steps for the fellows’ respective projects to empower them along their path to creating a difference in the community and world.
In addition to expanding the Action-Learning Fellowship from local to national since last June, for the first time, the Foundation also gave stakeholders outside of the Bay Area an opportunity to participate by holding this shareout event virtually through Zoom. This allowed unique ideas from other parts of the world to be shared with the fellows and larger BK community. The BK Foundation looks forward to increasing its capabilities to engage with the BK community outside of the Bay Area.
Here’s what people had to say:
Wow! The event was amazing. I was so impressed by all the work of the fellows. From the brainstorm to the execution, each member presented thoughtful projects that made me think more consciously about the world we live in. I’ve already started telling people about this fellowship opportunity.
I was inspired to hear such an exciting group of BK fellows present on a wide range of important and complex issues affecting our ability to understand and interpret the world we live in. It was a wonderful reminder of how BK resources and the BK community contribute so broadly to our understanding, and how the Berrett-Koehler Foundation can help.
The Stakeholder Summit
The greater Berrett-Koehler community joined together to reconnect to the mission of creating a world that works for all during the coming year of a leadership transition with David Marshall being BK’s new CEO and CFO, and Johanna Vondeling to be BK’s new President and Publisher.
This event came at a critical moment in BK’s history as it’s going through a leadership transition. The event helped the new leaders understand what a world that works for all means to BK stakeholders, and how to achieve that mission.
Here are some insights from stakeholders:
The BK Stakeholder Summit opened my eyes to a wider way the BK community is working to create a world that works for all. We have a ways to go to accomplish this mission, of course. But I came away inspired to do my part and encouraged that so many others are doing theirs.
It really helped me connect with the greater BK community and better understand the very important mission to create a world that works for all.
I was impressed by the use of technology to create a seamless virtual/in-person event. Well done!
